Cushions and Pillows
I fabricate new cushions for any type of wood, rattan or wicker frame, built-in boncos, banquettes, booths or window seats. Cushion filling can consist of any combination of the following materials:
HR Foam: A high-resiliency, high-density urethane foam with an average life of 15 years and longer. HR foam will out-perform most polyurethane foams used by manufacturers and many upholstery shops. HR foam provides a consistent feel without breaking down or flattening-out over a long period of time.
Bonded Dacron: A sturdy polyester batting typically used to wrap around the HR foam core of a seat cushion.
Fiber-fill: A soft resilient Dacron-polyester fiber used in back cushions and throw pillows
Goose down & feathers: Often referred to as just “down” is known for its superior lofting quality that makes a cushion or pillow plump. Goose feathers are preferred over duck and so called “water foul” feathers. Seat cushions consisting of goose down and feathers in combination with an HR foam core provide superior comfort and durability.
Kapok: A natural silky fiber harvested from the seeds of a tropical tree. Kapok is sometimes used as an economical substitute for down in throw pillows but lacks the lofting qualities characteristic of down blends.
Below are a few examples of the cushion and pillow styles I have made for my customers over the years.
